Ya no es el abrigo de tu abuela

Con todo el rollo ¨Vintage¨ creemos que todo vale, pero no es el caso.  Primero hay que saber que las pieles ya no es cosa de abuelas pero tampoco nos valen sus abrigos.  Es cierto que podemos utilizar el abrigo de nuestras abuelas o madres pero la moda cambia y se renueva y eso es lo que hay que hacer con esas prendas viejas, renovarlas o transformarlas.  Eso si, os advierto que no es igual una prenda renovada que una nueva.  Primero las prendas nuevas no suelen tener ese olor al baúl de la abuela, segundo, no tenéis que comer carne cruda para tirar de ella y tercero,  aunque vuelve la moda de los años 40 (por ejemplo) no significa que viene igual igual que hace 70 años.  Si así fuera los diseñadores de ahora no tendrían trabajo.  De hecho justo uno de sus trabajos, es enseñarnos como llevar prendas ¨Vintage¨ al estilo de hoy.  Antiguamente las prendas de piel eran una muestra de estatus y de lujo no asequible para tod@s los bolsillos.  Eso ya no es verdad.  Hay prendas de piel de conejo, de retal de visón o astracán, por ejemplo que salen mucho mas económicas.  Y en realidad el precio de un abrigo de visón ha bajado mucho desde que lo compró tu abuela o madre.  

También es muy importante saber que las pieles ya no son solo para esa ocasión especial o una noche de fiesta.  Hay prendas mucho mas llevaderas y juveniles que nos permiten llevarlas todos los días y incluso con un estilo mucho mas casual.  Entonces, ¿Como podemos vestir una prenda de piel?  Abajo pongo algunos ejemplos...........

Stay out of Granny`s closet

With all the hype about ¨Vintage¨ some fashion goers might think that anything from their grandma`s trunk is okay to wear.  But that`s not always the case, especially when it comes to fur.  It´s true that we can use our grandma`s or mother`s old coats but fashion changes and when a style comes back into fashion it is usually a ¨restyled¨  version according to today`s trends.  And that is exactly what we need to do with those ¨vintage¨ garments is restyle them having them tailored according to today`s fashion without loosing that vintage look.  I will say this, a restyled coat is not the same as a new coat even if it is a similar style.    First off a new garment will never have that smell of a used one, which may remind us oh so much of our grandma`s closet.  Secondly you don`t have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to carry that heavy fur coat around since today`s fur coats are much lighter but still provide the same amount of warmth.  And lastly when a trend comes back around it usually is not EXACTLY the same as, for example in the 40`s.   That is precisely one of  the jobs of the Designers, to take old styles and reconvert them into something fashionable, something new.   

Back in the day fur was a status symbol, something very luxurious not accesible to all.  But that is no longer true.  In fact the price of fur coats, such as mink, have gone down since our grandma`s or even mother`s bought theirs.  There are also cheaper options available and just as fashionable like rabbit, fox, or coats made from mink pieces.  With the drop in prices and the change in fashion etiquette  fur coats are no longer only for special ocasions or a night out but for everyday use.  In today`s market we have a large seleccion of fur garments which are stylish and lighter making them more compatible with our  urban lifestyle.  Below I have attached a few pictures showing some different examples of ways to sport your restyled or new garment in a more casual manner.  

El Calor de la Piel

 

Pensad en el frío.  ¿Que os vienen a la mente?  Imágenes de muchas capas de ropa, una ropa muy abultada, pesada y nada favorecedora.  La imposibilidad de no vernos gord@s y con muy poco estilo.  Por eso me gusta mucho esta foto.  Me parece super sexy y así es la piel.  La piel es algo vivo y se adapta a nuestros cuerpos, a nuestras curvas y a la vez nos da calor y  nos favorece.   Os confieso un secreto......cuando llega el frió estoy deseando ponerme mi chaqueta de visón y a veces (mucha veces) cuando la llevo puesta me pillo tocandome, disfrutando de la sensación que me da el pelo.  También me gusta ese pose sugerente de la foto, piel contra piel, esas miradas de pasión.  Pero allí me quedo, no llego mas lejos.  No como este articulo en el País,

Fur is Sexy

Which images come into your mind when you think of fashion and winter?   I think of layers and layers of clothes.  Heavy coats which make me look frumpy and not at all stylish.  That`s why I like this picture above.  Both he and she are at their sexiest in their winter clothes.  That`s the effect of fur and leather.  Very hot, very sexy!  With fur and leather you cannot get any more natural, in fact it´s the MOST natural material there is. And if natural isn`t sexy, then what is.  The beauty of this natural material is that it  is constantly adapting to our bodies, and at the same time giving us warmth and making us look great.  Having said that………I have a little secret to confess.  I have already told you that I do not like the cold but when winter rolls around I am already dreaming of wearing my fur coat. I love to wear it and I cannot keep my hands of myself.  In fact I find that other people are much more touchy-feely with me when I am wearing it.  You cannot beat the feel of fur.  Another reason why I like this picture is the way they are posing, leaning up against each other…..skin on skin.  Okay okay, I am getting carried away, but don`t worry I won`t take it to the next level unlike this article I read last week in a Spanish newspaper, ¨El País¨.

It´s about the ¨furry¨ movement which is becoming increasingly popular. 

The basic definition for a "furry" is an anthropomorphized animal character.    

Or In other words, an animal character given human-like attributes

 which is seen alot in comics nowadays. But this article does take it to the next level and 

talks about ¨furries and yiff´s¨. 

People who like to dress up as animals and engage in sexual relations.

But I am not saying that you have to dress like an animal to feel sexy.  All that  I am saying is that ¨yes, fur is very sexy¨ and whether it is with someone, or like me, on my own,  you can enjoy it and it`s warmth.

Watching old movies about the Second World War without seeing a typical aviator jacket would be like watching ¨Top Gun¨ and seeing Maverick (Tom Cruise) in a trench coat….just not going to happen.  Nowadays we don´t have to look towards the past to see one of these but instead up on to the most International runways.   And ladies  this is no men`s jacket anymore.  Brands like Burberry have made this jacket super feminine, giving it an oversized double collar, a tailored fit and tight sleeves.  And although this is a version of the typical aviator or bomber jacket, it doesn`t mean you have to run around in a jumpsuit.  Pair this jacket up with a tight fitting button down shirt, a pair of skinny jeans and some boots to complete your ¨urban casual¨ look.  Or if you want to mix it up a bit try this jacket with a pencil skirt or a form fitting dress (first picture) and a pair of heels showing the runway models that us street girls also know how to strut our stuff.    Here in Crivero we also think this is one of the best styles for this winter and we have two different versions of the aviator jacket.  The first version (second picture) is  more toned down  with an off to the side zip up front, in a light indigo color by the French brand Intuition.   The second jacket (pictured below) is from our very own Crivero label and is very similar to the Burberry model.  Our jacket is a little bit longer (giving you a little added warmth on your lower back), with a detachable collar and to save you the $$$$ it is made with a faux fur lining but still has a rustic leather finish.  This jacket is available in green or brown and right now you can buy it in Crivero at 40% of it`s original price (before 240€, now 144€).  So with the dropping temperaturas look for this ¨must have¨ jacket with a worn leather finish and furry lambskin lining to keep you warm this winter.

Puffy Jackets

 

The first puffy jacket was invented in 1975, 40 years after the male version, when designer Norma Kamali went camping one weekend and was so cold that she started thinking about how she could wear her sleeping bag all through the winter.  When she returned home she took her quilted blanket from her bed and with her scissors invented the first ¨sleeping bag¨ coat which was an instant hit. 

Now I know what you are thinking, a sleeping bag coat or a puffy jacket does not sound very attractive nor slimming.  But hold on now, we have come a long way from 1975.  So you no longer have to worry about looking like the Michelin man or having a pin head in the oversized mens jacket.  The puffy jacket, doesn`t have to be SOOO puffy (remember George from Seinfeld in his puffy down jacket?) and it can still keep us warm.  These days we all look for clothes which are comfortable, practical, in style and make us look good and this type of jacket lives up to all of these.  This jacket can be great on any body type.  If you are slim or have a small chest this will help fill you out and if you wear larger sizes a longer version with a belt is always more slimming.  This jacket can be worn with jeans or slim pants as a very casual look.  It can also be worn with a sweater, short jean skirt, leggings and a pair of ¨Uggs¨ style boots to complete a ¨apres-ski¨ look.  But if neither of these looks are what you are going for try this jacket with patterned leggings, a pair of lace up boots, and an oversized bag, for a very chic look (check out the picture below).  This season in Crivero we have many types of puffy jackets in textile or leather.  Pictured to the right are 3 examples by ¨Intuition¨ brand from Paris which you can find in our stores in different colors and sizes.  All are made from the highest quality leather and textile and the fur hoods and collars are detachable. 

So put an end to the idea of ¨Puffy = Fat¨.  It does not.  It equals comfort, warmth, practicality and most of all, style.

La chaqueta enguatada o la ¨puffy jacket¨ se invento en 1975, 40 años después de la versión masculina, cuando la diseñadora Norma Kamali fue de acampada y pasó tal frío que pensó que le gustaría de alguna forma llevar su saco de dormir durante todo el invierno.  Cuando llegó a su casa cogió una tijeras y hizo de la colcha de su cama una chaqueta, siendo un numero uno al instante.

Ahora, sé que estas pensando ¨eso no suena muy atractivo ni a la moda, una chaqueta hecha de una colcha¨, pero desde entonces hemos progresado mucho.  Ya no es la chaqueta Michelin o la de nuestros padres que te hace gorda o que pareces que tienes una cabeza muy chica.  Ahora la chaqueta enguatada, siendo de piel o no, con un gramaje de plumón o guata puede ser muy favorecedora aparte de calentita y practica.  Para las que sois muy delgadas o con poco pecho dan cuerpo y para tallas mas grandes una levita, en vez de chaqueta, estiliza.  Hoy en día buscamos prendas cómodas, funcionales pero también a la moda y estas chaquetas cumplen con todos los requisitos.  Entonces ¿como debemos llevar estas chaquetas?  Pues dado que es un ¨look¨ de lo mas deportivo o casual, con unos vaqueros o pantalones estrechos, y si la chaqueta es corta con falda vaquera corta, leggings y unas botas tipo ¨Uggs¨ con pelo para completar nuestro look ¨apres-ski¨. A lo mejor tu look es mas ¨chic¨, tampoco hay ningún problema, (echa un vistazo a la foto abajo) con leggings de serpiente y botas con tacón y un bolso ¨oversized¨ queda genial.   En Crivero tenemos toda una linea de chaquetas enguatadas de piel o textil como en las fotos a la derecha de la marca Intuition con cuellos y capuchas desmontables. 
Entonces olvidate de la idea que nos engorda las chaquetas enguatadas, y animate a la moda.

Complementos que complementan

En estos días de otoño con el tiempo que no pare de cambiar, lluvia, sol, calor, frió, viento uno se acaba poniendo y quitandose ropa con mucha frecuencia.  Aprovechando que todavía podemos disfrutar de la ropa mas ligera y no tenemos que cargar con abrigos pesados (aunque siendo de piel no tendríais esa preocupación) podemos echar mano a los complementos para ese puntito más de abrigo que necesitamos para las mañanas y noches y de esta forma evitar las sesiones de masajes que necesitariamos después todo un día de llevar el abrigo en brazos.  Algunos de los complementos que tenemos esta temporada en Crivero son las bufandas de conejo o visón,

Me parecen accesorios perfectos para poner con una chaqueta de napa o cuando haga mas frió un abrigo de piel o lana.  A la vez que alegran la prenda, nos abrigan y  favorecen.  Y chicos, las bufandas no solo son para las mujeres, el hombre que quiere conseguir ese ¨look¨ urbano casual no debe pasar otro invierno sin su ¨muffler¨ de piel.

Drizzle drizzle, fizzle fizzle that`s how I have felt these past few days with all the rain, wind and cool weather.  In fact I just realized that it is already Thursday and I have yet to write my blog entry in English.  But never fear, I have a great topic on hand and am all charged up about it.

Maniquin with ¨eternity scarf¨

 I do have to say that I love fall.  I love the turning of the leaves, the freshness in the air after a good rain and the smell of damp earth.  What I don`t enjoy is the changes in temperature which one can experience all in the same day.  These temperature changes lead to putting on and taking off jackets or coats constantly throughout the day which eventually equal a bad cold or aching arms and back.   Consequences of having toted around a heavy coat all day.  So I propose that while we can, we stick to the lighter jackets and to keep the chill of the early morning or evening away, accesorize with a furry scarf or muffler.  In Crivero this season we have both coming in different colors and available in either rabbit, mink or fox.  These are the best accesories for spicing up a simple coat or jacket or even worn indoor can look very sassy and sofisticated.  Just take a look at the pictures of the different types and ways they can be worn.  If you want a more classic look, go for one of our tradicional fur scarves.  If you want a more urban, casual look go for the ¨eternity scarf¨ (thanks Liisa for that definition) which can be worn by both men and women.  This scarf is worn by pulling it over your head and looping it around your neck twice.  But if  you want to step it up a notch  for daytime wear or even a night out check out our stretchy ¨mufflers¨.  The muffler is pulled on over your head and can be worn around the neck during the day over a jacket,sweater or can be pulled down over the shoulders  for a night out on the town or a special ocasion.  Scarves can be fun and in fur they are very complimentary.
