2017 Autumn Fashion Trends in Leather

2017 Autumn Fashion Trends in Leather

Now that the fall season is upon us, wardrobes are about to change significantly as the summer weather draws to a close. For the fashion trends of 2017 this fall season, the boundaries have been pushed even further as designers continue to think outside the box to releases new collections that challenge the notion of what is quintessential clothing for autumn. Typically, the cooler months are all about staple clothing, classics and layering, but every year, there are new looks thrown into the mix that keep the world of fashion exciting and moving forward. If you have become acclimated to certain designers and looks during the fall, you may want to invest in a few different pieces to add more versatility to your wardrobe. The following are a sampling of both classic fall looks as well as the classic that never go out of style.

The Soft Side of Leather

Leather doesn’t always have to go the tough and hard route. In fact, several designers this season have released pieces in their latest collections that rebuke the theory and have answered with sharp, fitted, apparel that is ladylike, regal, and makes the perfect complement for the fall fashion season.

Red Leather

It appears as if red is the unofficial official hue for fall 2017, being served up by top fashion houses in every shade imaginable. From monochromatic looks to mixing and matching with other vibrant colors, pulling off this look is sure to turn heads and race temperatures during the cold months.

Chocolate Brown Leather

Not to be outdone, brown gets deep with chocolate brown running a close second to red this season. Fade from black and into brown, also one of the season’s signature colors, as it gets a new perspective from several labels that have many calling it a comeback of sorts. From Moschino to Balmain, The Row to Emilio Pucci, there is a designer out there to dip into and celebrate the fall in style.

Leather Jackets

You cannot contemplate the fall season without a leather jacket in some form and for fall 2017, men and women can opt for the grunge leather jacket, leather bomber, or a shearling. The best part is that if you cannot decide on one, invest in a few and trade them out depending on your mood.

Leather Skirts

During the fall season, nothing is probably as sexy and striking as a woman’s leather skirt, which is poised for a huge splash this fall. From the pleated to smooth, tight fitted to mini-skirt, there are range of looks that any woman can adapt to her own particular tastes during the autumn months. This fall, maxi and mini skirts are making their presence known the most, in hues that run the gamut and include, green, terracotta, and of course fire engine red.

Leather ocasions

In times of economic crisis we are very cautious with our money and therefor when we go shopping we tend to look for garments which are durable, fashionable and versatile.  In my closet there are few items that complete these 3 requirements and my leather jacket is one of them.  In fact I would say that my leather jacket IS the most verstile piece in my wardrobe.  This week I would like to include some pictures of celebrities to give you some ideas of how you can combine your leather jacket with just about any garment and for any ocasion.

Heidi Klum looks very springy and fashionable taking her kids to their karate class in a long bright pink dress with a black leather biker jacket.

Innovation and color in fur and leather

Yesterday was the last day of Mifur and as the Fur and Leather Exhibition has drawn to a close I want to summarize our visit to Milan.  Milan is the world`s fashion capital, and the city definately lives up to it`s name.  As we stepped off the plane at Linate International Airport, from the glass enclosed finger we were welcomed by Giorgio through this huge neon sign for ¨Emporio Armani¨.
This was just a prelude as to what our two day visit to Milan would have instore for us.  Milan never ceases to suprise me and exudes fashion.  Starting with it`s famous streets, Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga, Via Sant'Andrea, Via Manzoni, Via Borgospesso and Via Santo Spirito which together make up the  Fashion Quadrilatero. This area contains the most prestigious boutiques and showrooms in the world, where the rich and famous can shop and the rest of us mortals who do not fall into either of these two categories can peer in through beautifully decorated front windows and dream of a lavish lifestyle.  Milan`s Pasticceria`s (pastry shops), Trattoria`s(restaurants) ,Gelateria`s (ice cream shops) and Café`s awake your senses and can make your stomache growl.  The ¨grande finale¨ was a stop in front of the Duomo Cathedral to take in the sight and people watch in the ¨piazza (plaza).
Finally it was off to do some work, the real reason we were in Milan, and we took the metro to the exhibition center.  We were greeted there with protestors, against the use of animal fur, and as we entered through the doorways which were protected by the Carabinieri (Italian police) we were called ¨murderers¨.  Every year it is the same but this year there were fewer protestors, maybe because of the economic crisis some could not afford to take the day off of work.
Once inside we were engulfed in the warmth and exuberance which the fur and leather industry represent.  The first day being Sunday expectations that morning were high and the representatives from the companies were in good sprits as they welcomed their first customers.  I was happy to see more color this year in the fur and leather skins and garments.  Although the classic colors like black, brown, and camel are the best sellers, it`s nice to be able to pick from green`s, blue`s, grey`s and red`s for next seasons leather collection.
Unfortunately the price of fur; mink, astrakan, y fox, has all increased making it almost inaccesible for the Spanish market.  But luckily for us fashion is constatnly adapting to today`s demands and new techniques have been developed which enable us to making more affordable fur garments.  For example using knitted fur or pieces of fur instead of whole skins, fur combined with leather or textile or garments with fur trimmings, which can result in stylish garments but at a lower cost.  And with prices being more reasonable we can then look for a funner and younger style garment in colors, like pinks, blues or mauves.

As for accesories the star again this year is the muffler or eternity scarf.  I have been raving about these all season and if you still don`t have one make sure to start saving up for next season. By the end of the second day we could see that the economic crisis has also taken it`s toll on the fur and leather industry in Europe and most of the company representatives were complaining about the lack of buyers.  So as we waited in Malpensa airort for our flight we were left with a bitter-sweet feeling after Mifur.  On one hand we were feeling a little left out of ¨the game¨ because of the high prices but on the other hand we were very impressed with the innovative ideas for meeting the demands of lower prices in fur and leather.
